Postnatal Doula Support

My postnatal doula support is typically used by those with babies under 12 weeks though I do support beyond this too. What this looks like differs from family to family, you might want me to just listen, provide evidence based information, help around the house or with other children to give you more time with your newborn, or look after the baby so you can get a bit of rest. Whatever support you need I can be there; you can either book this as a block of hours in advance or book last minute if I am available.

I usually provide my postnatal doula services in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Harrogate and some of North Yorkshire including parts of the Yorkshire Dales. I can travel further afar for pre-booked postnatal doula support so please do get in touch to discuss your situation.

How I Can Support You

My pre-booked postnatal doula support package is £200 for 10 hours to be used over 2 weeks (2 hours min per session)

 My postnatal support includes:

After giving birth you might want the opportunity to talk through it – I will be there for you with no judgements, my whole focus is on you and giving you time and space to talk, think and process.

Or you might be fed up of your mother in law telling you what they think would be best; just being able to chat and have someone really listen to you as well as support you, can really help.

When you have had a baby all sorts of questions come up, even if you have other children no two babies are the same, so working out what you want, asking questions and talking through any worries you might have is incredibly important

You may notice that once you have a newborn people tend to give you advice based on what worked for them. I will provide you with solid evidence based information so that you are best placed to understand your options and make informed choices that will work best for you and your family.

Every person, family and baby are unique, it is what makes the world such an amazing place. It also means that I make sure my support is completely tailored to you and your wants and needs in those first few weeks. I am there to empower you and make your life a little easier; most other cultures have a resting period when the person that has given birth is looked after so they can recover physically and mentally.

You might want me to:

  • Cook a meal and make you a hot cup of tea to give you time with your newborn
  • Look after baby while you get some quality sleep, knowing I will bring baby to you as soon as they need you
  • Support you with feeding or nappy changes
  • Put a wash on or run a hoover around
  • Take your dog out for a walk
  • Play with any other children you might have and help them feel special and involved

You can jot down any ways I can support or ease some pressure for a given day.

And not that you need one but I can be a great excuse to get rid of guests too!

A WhatsApp chat (or your prefered method of contact) so any questions that come up you can message me at anytime. Even in the middle of the night sometimes it helps to just write it down so you can get some sleep and I will get back to you as soon as I can once I have read the message.

You can use your 10 hours over 2 weeks any time in the first 2 months*. You might want this as soon as baby as born, a few days in, whenever other support you have has gone back to work; it is up to you and I try to be as flexible as possible as newborns like to change day to day and how you are feeling might change too.

As an example you might want me to come for 3 hours for a couple of sessions in the morning to help with housework and tend to baby while you rest, then you might want to change this for the next session to have 2 hours in the evening for support around bedtime. My support is available Monday – Friday between 10.00am-2.30pm & 5.00pm-11.00pm and Weekends 8.00am-11.00pm – you can choose anything between these times with a minimum of 2 hours per session.

If you need to add on more time this is absolutley fine too, you can book another block of hours or pay as you go (see below)

*Do get in touch if your baby is slightly older, the 4 month regression can be tough and I am happy to support here if I am available too

I will hold your hand and help you ride a wave exploring and working out what your baby needs. I truly believe you know your baby best, but this time is also really challenging, hormones can be all over the place so I can give you the support you need with your baby while you working through this..

Pay as you go – last minute support

My pay and go last minute postnatal doula support is £25 per hour (min 2 hours per session). The support is exactly the same as listed above but this can be booked last minute, we don’t need to have ever met – I will come in to support you however you need.

This idea came about when I said everytime I had a newborn “if only someone could just come round for a few hours, tidy around and watch the baby so I could get some sleep”. If this is you then I’m here for you!

Overnight support

I do offer offer occasional overnight support so feel free to get in touch and we can chat about costs, times and what might work. If however you are looking for something more regular then other Doulas in the area might be a better option for you.
